Super Rugby leaders the Sharks have been dealt a blow with the news that Pieter-Steph du Toit will miss Saturday's clash with the Reds.

Du Toit was named in Sharks' side earlier on Thursday but suffered a knee injury in training later on.

Jake White and his coaching team are awaiting results of a scan to determine the full extent of Du Toit's injury, but he is definitely out of this weekend's meeting with the 2011 champions.

His place in the starting XV has been taken by Stephan Lewies, with the Sharks yet to announce a replacement in the number 19 jersey.

Options in the squad include Peet Marais and Etienne Oosthuizen.
