Heading back to Durban: Matt Stevens

Saracens tighthead prop Matt Stevens is set to to play for the Sharks in this year's Super Rugby tournament.

According to a report in the Daily Mail he has signed a contract and will see out his career in Durban where he was born.

Stevens, who can play on either side of the scrum, played 44 Tests for England and toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2005 to New Zealand and 2013 to Australia.

He missed the Lions' 2009 tour to South Africa due to a positive test for recreational drugs that year, which led to a two year ban.

The 31-year-old played with Sharks CEO John Smit during his stint as a player at Saracens.

Stevens faces tough competition if he wants to break into the Sharks' starting XV.

They already have first-choice Springbok props Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira and Jannie du Plessis as well as Lourens Adriaanse who has also represented South Africa.
