The Waratahs will have the backing of a Super Rugby record crowd when they run out at ANZ Stadium this Saturday.

After 19 years of waiting, the NSW faithful have leapt at the chance to be part of history and cheer their state to its first ever Super Rugby title.

The 2014 Super Rugby Final is set to become one of the biggest sporting events in Sydney this year.

With over 50,000 tickets already taken and three days of sales remaining, the Waratahs are confident of surpassing the previous record crowd of 55,000 set in the 2009 final in Pretoria, South Africa.

With a monster Waratahs-themed pre-game celebration planned for Sydney Olympic Park and the whole venue decked in blue, NSW Waratahs coach Michael Cheika is backing the light blue Tahs army to provide the all important home ground advantage come Saturday night.

"I know that the importance of the crowd is infinite," said Cheika.

"They can provide you with the energy, the extra motivation and extra encouragement when you're down or when you're up.

"It's that type of unquantifiable support that is the magic of sport - when you're at home and the crowd is cheering for you, anything is possible."

With the match taking place just two weeks before the Qantas Wallabies host the All Blacks at the same venue, Australians are being urged to put state loyalties aside to get behind the 'Tahs and start the Bledisloe battle early.
