Wycliff Palu: Expects a physical onslaught

Waratahs number eight Wycliff Palu believes the Western Force will be competitive at the breakdown when the sides meet in Sydney on Sunday.

Palu feels if the Waratahs want to beat the Force, they will have to front up in the battle for the ball against the Force who have added some aggression to their ranks.

The Force have always been a side who do well at the breakdown but their coach Michael Foley has placed more emphasis in this department and Palu expects some more ferocity from the Perth-based outfit.

"They have a lot of South African guys in their squad now," Palu told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"They are going to be a lot more physical - it's going to be a pretty big test.

"They will look at us and try and stop our back line... they [will] kind of bully us around. So it's going to be one of those games."

Palu feels that the Waratahs' respond to the challenge could also have an impact on how they are regarded for coming games.

"We have talked about it a lot as a forwards pack," he added.

"In past NSW sides, we have always been good at set piece and quite physical, but I think we have to be more consistent in the physical side of things."
