Bad break: Lachlan Turner

Waratahs wing Lachlan Turner's hopes of making a Super Rugby return has been derailed after he suffered a season ending leg break in a club match last weekend.

Turner, who was sidelined for most of last season with a torn hamstring, sustained his latest injury during his club, Eastwood's, 34-3 victory over Randwick in Sydney on Saturday.

Turner, who is out of contract at the Waratahs, had an operation on Monday, and confirmed from his hospital bed that it is expected he will be out of action for the rest of the year.

The 25-year-old, who has represented the Wallabies in 15 Tests, also revealed how the injury occurred.

"I went in to a ruck and I was over the ball trying to steal it," Turner told Fairfax Media.

"A guy got trapped behind my legs and then my feet and they were caught. And then, I got cleaned out by a couple of Randwick blokes and it just collapsed underneath me."

Turner, who played in two matches for the Waratahs this season, was enjoying the game until the incident and even scored a try to give his side an early lead.
