Waratahs number eight Wycliff Palu admits he would consider a move to Japan after the impact made on return by George Smith and others.

Smith has been in good form for the Brumbies while Hugh McMeniman and Mitchell Chapman have also impressed after returning from playing in Japan.

30-year old Palu has a long history with injuries and believes a stint overseas could allow him the necessary recuperation time to recover ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

"They've looked like they've come back really refreshed," said Palu to ABC Online.

"I had a chat with George a while back and he said he's feeling in really good nick.

"They do a lot of training over there and play less games.

"Your body has the time to recover so you're going to come back fresher and the rugby's also not as physical over there.

"Chappo (Chapman) as well, he's slotted straight back in and been one of our most consistent performers week in week out at the Tahs."

Before any move though, Palu has the British and Irish Lions in his sights when the touring side arrive in Australia in June.

"I definitely want to play in those big tournaments. It's always a goal to play at the highest level," added Palu.

"Depending on how I'm going physically and also how I'm going playing-wise, if I feel I could still play rugby at that level, I'd definitely put my hand up.

"First things first, though. I've got to play well for the Tahs and, if I do that, I think everything turns out the way you want it to."
