@ justice_4_all - Oi! Less of "the crap ones" please. And Watson did ok for us at Bath, so I don't hate him like you do.

(Does it count that I'd probably come out in hives if I was forced to wear a Bok shirt..?) ;-)

Trinats.. If you viewed that as excitement, you really need to get out more..

justice_4_all.. such language from such a knowledgeable chap? (tic). Durban? Hmm does have its positives. I am assuming my 'kak' was about the kings? are you related to those extremely dodgy politicians trying to muscle in on the super rugby gravy train? I'm a WP(stormers) fan. Thank god I didnt use a nickname like moffie or something. Can you imagine how an imaginative chap like yourself would have used that? the mind boggles.

Back to sensible comments soon I hope?

The editor says.... That's enough you two. You've swung your handbags, now play nicely..OK?

Trinats, you forgot to add; a team which had won 9 of their last 10 games against the All Blacks. Still Too Easy then?

Trinats I am absolutely amazed that one person can be so consistantly wrong with allmost every post. I once went through Bloemfontein.. Once was enough. So matey boy have another guess.. I think I'll write 'wrong' now.. for your next wrong guess.. Opinion is wonderful on the proviso it comes out of your mouth, and not the orrifice you sit on..

Jaystar you are 100% right about the kings. sadly thats SARU politics yet again.. But think of it in these terms.. Last year the reds got a stack of points playing against what was then a poor Aussie conference. so with the conference system bonus points guaranteed twice for the other teams.. a positive if one can draw a positive from the shenanigans that is SARU politics, Yes I am aware the Kiwi and Aussie teams will benefit too but mostly SA teams because of the conference system

Trinats,

Agreed it was a very long time between drinks for us AllBlack supporters and the World Cup. But may I point out the Wallabies haven't lifted it since last century, so, ...........might want to get onto that?

@ spliffed: AGREED! Certainly by far the best, most competitive start of a Super Rugby season that I can remember...

Now can you imagine the travesty if SARU forces the Kings into the mix next year at the expense of the Cheetahs or Lions (or both, if they decide to reform the Cats)...

That's right, The Kings who can't even win the Currie Cup 2nd division... The Kings who can't even beat the Province 2nd / 3rd team in the Vodacom Cup... The Kings who will have to contract players from outside to be competitive, so won't be doing anything for transformation in the EP after all...

Everyone - the fans, SANZAR, the Super Rugby franchises, the broadcasters and sponsors should all stand united and say "NO" - the Lions and Cheetahs are staying. If the Kings want in, they'll have to wait their turn until the competition is expanded. Because at the moment they will only ruin what is finally a fantastic competition - all the way from 1 to 15.

NO to the Kings, YES to the Cheetahs and Lions..!

And if SARU doesn't listen, then we as the fans will just have to remind them who's boss - we'll just boycott all the Kings games. We won't go to our stadiums when they're playing and we won't watch their games on the tele. I can't see the Facebook group already... As they say - money talks. Let's see if SARU will listen then.

@ jonesy2, JayStarr & justice_4_all - if (and it's a big IF) I were to throw my support behind a SH team, it would have to be the Rebels. I used to live in Melbourne and my mother still does. Not out of choice, you see, just family loyalty.

But I shan't. I'm happy with Bath, England and the Lions, despite the results!!!

Pick who you like. everyone has their own opinion but the one opinion that seems to be the same is the wonderful season so far. Anyone agree that so far its the best Super Rugby season yet? Emerging favourites dumped on their backsides. The teams at the bottom close to wins on numerous occasions.. Can it get any better?

@ JayStarr - Ma'a Who? Rene Who? Rudi Who? Isaia Who? Piri Who? These must be some youngsters being developed in the junior leagues, as no-one up here's ever heard of them. Good are they?

andre taylor is an absolute freak. far too many bulls players in the side, hardly any deserved mention. complete joke that both the franks bros werent written down. du plessis was good but i thought him and TPN cancelled each other out. young tommy kingston was better than gerrard. how you missed nonu is anyones guess. dean mumm should be there just for his run and fend against the sharks. that is all.

APV1 -- mate seriously nobody would blame you if you just gave up on and forgot about whatever is going on up there and picked a S rugby team to support. you know you want to...

JayStarr says...

@ APV1: I'm afraid it's the latter..! :P Good point though. I think it's testament not only to depth, but also to how competitive all the teams are this year...

We've always said that in Super Rugby anybody can beat anybody - which was true - but there was still a pretty clear distinction between the very top teams and the very bottom teams...

This year is insanely competive - after 5 rounds (of 6 or 7 games per round) there has only been something like 3 or 4 games that haven't been won in less than 7 points! I've lost count of how many games have been won in the last few minutes... or won by just 1 point... That's unheard of in Super Rugby!

To illustrate: the Blues are bottom of the log! And they have players like Ma'a Nonu, Rene Ranger, Rudi Wulf, Isaia Toeva, Piri Weepu, etc. etc... The Cheetahs came within a whisker of beating the Crusaders in Christchurch last weekend... The Brumbies beat the previously unbeaten Highlanders... the Force beat the Waratahs - in Sydney... the Lions came within an inch of beating the Stormers... etc. etc. It's becoming almost impossible to predict who's going to win - for example, I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions beat the Crusaders this weekend! And almost all the games end with edge-of-the-seat closeness. It's fantastic!

There's also a plethora of talented youngsters coming through - especially in NZ and SA... and especially at no.10. I have little doubt that we'll see plenty of new faces in the national squads for the June tests... which might be unsettling and cause a wobble - especially with new coaches and all - but should set us up for a very promising future!

Good side...I would have made a few changes though. The bulls were strong but they were helped by the fact the Reds were hapless. Thought Ben Alexander warranted selection for his display against the Highlanders too. What about Joe Tomane and Christian Leafilano too....or Johan Goosen for that matter?
