Bonus-point win: Waratahs

Waratahs blindside flank Dave Dennis admitted their 39-30 victory over the Hurricanes was a "good result" as they claimed five points in Sydney.

The hosts crossed five times to the 'Canes' three as the New Zealand outfit's winning run was brought to an end in an entertaining spectacle.

For Dennis, the victory was pleasing as his side head into their bye week just a point behind the Brumbies, who lost heavily at the Crusaders.

"There were a couple of defensive lapses early and we made it hard for ourselves," said the skipper following their win at Allianz Stadium.

"But every time we held the ball we got in behind them and I thought we stuck to our shape well and to win against the Hurricanes is a good result for us."

Meanwhile, Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith was upset with how his side threw away a 24-7 lead and went on to lose the game without a single point.

"We had opportunities, we did well in the first half and we just missed a couple of chances in the second half and they attacked really well and scored points and we couldn't keep up," he said.
