Highlanders leave Ioane at home

Highlanders flanker TJ Ioane has been left out of the squad to tour to South Africa having failed to recover from injury.

Ioane has missed the Highlanders' last two matches against the Rebels and Bulls due to a calf injury.

Jamie Joseph's team will play the Sharks and Stormers over the next few weeks over in the Republic, with Brad Thorn also out following his surgery on Sunday for a torn bicep.

Other absentees include Tom Franklin, Matais Diaz, Willie Ripia, Winston Stanley and Frae Wilson, while Kurt Baker is still suspended.
