And how about the penalty where the SA commentators thought the highlanders were hard done by. Both teams had things go for and against them and you may well think that Walsh is not much of a referee but to say he is biased is a nonsense

The handling of the Highlanders was not up to its normal high level whether because of the conditions or pressure, is of no matter it was a telling factor.

Do you really think Meyer will give the young brigade a go when his whole tone so far has to try to bring back the old brigade. Goosen getting injured has helped his selections as he doesnt need to. Of course it needs to be pointed out that neither Goosen or Lambie wear the Blue (pink) Jersey.So their chances of being fly half for the boks when the incumbant is a Bulls player would be as likely as a crowd at Pretoria applauding Bryce Lawrence for his refereeing. He has surrounded himself with Bulls coaching panel so Steyn is safe as fly half for the Boks.

@Sharkyzulu and so the refereeing battering goes on. Calling him an imbecile is is rather rich. Perhaps you could give us an idea of your own refereeing pedigree. You use vague examples of where he was allegedly wrong but seriously it is your own opinion rather than law. You ask if there is a worse ref than Walsh how about these two who you must have seen Pro Legoate and Johan Muewessen? If you don't agree they have both been tried and sacked as not good enough. Walsh has been refereeing Super and International Rugby for many years and is thought good enough to referee a Super Rugby final many test matches and represent two countries .

Are you kidding me? The Sharks were very cynical at the breakdown... all night & to make matters worse they got 6 - 9 points from penalties that should of been blown the other way.

I'm sick of seeing teams play no rugby & knocking penalties over from long range that don't deserve the equivalent of 60% of an uncoverted try, it really diminishes the value of the try & allows teams to win games with a negative approach. Surely it's not good for Rugby.

I really think they need to introduce a rule change that means you can only kick for goal if the penalty is awarded in the oppositions 22. It means for a team to get points from a penalty they actually need to be putting sufficient pressure on the line & when teams are awarded penalties in that 22 - 60 range they're still getting a huge advantage anyway because they're able to kick for touch & most of the time it will make it deep inside the 22.

Not only that but it would surely increase the tries to penalties ratio making the sport a better spectacle for all & more than half the situation where teams can kick points from subjective calls at the breakdown.

It seems to me like a win-win situation that will help these negative teams improve their game & actually pursue tries rather than penalties, you know, the object of the game. Drop goals would of course say the same because that's a piece of individual skill.

This is not just a rant because of the Sharks game, they did what they needed to win & good on them. It's a rant for Rugby

Recorded the game then accidently heard the score this morning before viewing it. Decided not to waste my time. Lambie is a machine isn't he well done to the Sharks. Reports suggest the Highlanders dropped heaps of ball which is strange as that is something they have done really well all season. That many penalties would suggest the Sharks put us under plenty of pressure. Ah well back home and some easy games coming up you know Bulls, Hurricanes, Crusaders (gulp)

Morne Steyn would be lucky to see much more game time with Lambie and Goosen around. Even Peter Grant has looked streets ahead of Steyn. The difficulty is getting the Management to realise that Lambie is a talented player that should be at 10. The fact that he covers so many other positions could spoil the player in the long run

Morne will probably start for the Boks but this guy should be the 10 against England. Again, nothing against Steyn but Lambie has an educated boot and is one of the bravest tacklers I've seen, especially at his age. Plus his attacking mindset and composure, would love to see him at 10 with Frans at 12. Think we'll see Morne and JDV though.MartinMarais, this isn't a pro-Sharks rant, just want to see something different.
