@ BokAvenger - have a look at 19 seconds. It looks a bit like the other player had hold of his goolies and then his hand moved up to his shirt:

I agree that it's inconclusive, but if someone grabs hold of my gentleman's vegetables (without having been invited to!), I'd clock them too.

@hellovanite: didn't know Haskell's privates were stitched to his jersey because when I look at the replay Downey was holding him by the jersey. But then again most of you poms need to grow a pair so the Kiwis probably did find him two and stitch them to his jersey to carry about on the field

@BokAvenger: We are sensitive soul aren't we. Let me rephrase for your delicate ears "the nice young Irreproachable South African boy of English decent" with his filthy mits all over Haskells balls. Is that an oxymoron?

@noodle: Name calling? Which part... dodgy, dutch or farmer. Geez let's take flippant and turn it into serious aggitating why don't we. You guy's need to put your knitting down and get a grip!

I think this is probably a result of Jamie Joseph's uber aggressive, high intensity game philosophy which has manifested itself in a violent brain explosion by Jimmy Haskell. He was a man right on the edge, playing well and lost his cool that will cost him and his team when he is banned.

This game was decided by 2 things. 1st the fast rising talent, Johan Goosen getting injured, and 2nd, the injection of Jimmy Cowan's experience. I really feel for Goosen, i believe he will be the no.10 for SA soon and will be for a long time.

@hellovanite... not sure that sort of name calling is called for. No doubt you will receive some attention from the saffa boys.

BokAvenger says...

@all the poms - if the premiership is so ..er "intense" (what a suitably vague word) then please explain how and why you're little boys in white routinely get their behinds kicked on international television by the Boks, Wobblies and Abs?

I have no doubt Jonkers took a softler stance due to his howler in the Brumbies-Bulls game. Even so, he had another forgetable night. Move over Bryce and Wayne, you've got company!!

BokAvenger says...

@hellovanite: I would not have a problem with your racist epithet ("dodgy dutch farmer) if 1) it were correct and 2) if PR never routinely censored my use of epithets to describe the English.

But on the first point: the Cheetah's player who was holding Haskell Back was Justin Downey, which in case you don't realise means he doesn't qualify as a "dodgy Dutch farmer". In fact, his name iindicates that he's a Saffa of British descent.

Secondly, the stupidity of describing Afrikaners as being Dutch is even more astounding if you simply look at the names of SA players. Du Plessis, Pienaar, Rossouw, Brussouw, de Villiers, du Preez, Fourie, de Bruyn, Labuschagne, Marais, Theron, Le Roux, Roux, Joubert, Pretorius (All French). Other common Afrikaans names like Alberts, Botha, Ebersohn, Badenhorst, Shraeder, Hoffman, Kitshoff, Kruger, Schoeman are all German. Afrikaners are in fact a totally mixed people. That's why there are surnames like Ferreira (Portuguese), Delport (Spanish eg. de la Port), German-Jewish (Raubenheimer, Liebenberg) and Scandinavian (Elstadt) etc. Please wake up to your own ignorance.

I love the idea that the Super 15 is more intense than the Premiership. More skilful yes - in spades! But more intense? Nope!

Haskell was indeed having a blinder up to that point. Still, i'm not sure I wouldn't damn the torpedos and snot someone, if my vital organs were being smothered in the grip of some dodgy dutch farmer! Pity though he was showing some form, and now he's gone and possibly screwed it for himself. Should probably give himself an uppercut next time.

At the editor, you should be unbiased and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Let's face it more response to him than the actual topic now who,s sad.

The editor says.... I agree, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But when one user repeats the same opinion over and over causing many of his fellow South Africans to send us messages complaining about it, then we are obliged to act.

Haskell played out of his skin... in the end you might argue that if Jonker had given him a red (as per the touchie's recommendation) then the Cheetahs would more than likely have won the game! Another result decided by poor reffing.

Posted 11:53 30th April 2012

ZAoorALLES_4E says...

Jonker stuffed this game completely. Why do the refs need to COACH the players on field. He COACHED the Landers the entire bloody game... *Please no hand , please roll , please no hands , please roll... I mean , really!! They were of side so much , thought the Cheethas recruited them pre-game..

This bloody white card is just passing the buck! The team playing on the day does not benefit at all. JONKER: What does the rule book say? Blatant punch , RED , RITE? So, WTF????

Posted 10:56 30th April 2012

Ramage says...

Yes maybe he was provoked but this does not excuse the fact he punched, I believe two players and can not be excused. What did he think would happen? To me he was lucky or unlucky not to get a red as suggested by the assistant referee. I believe Jonker did the right thing so the situation can be looked at in the clear light of day. Jonker punished him by yellow carding him and also the Highlanders as he is a team member. Then by placing the fracas on white card left it for the judicial process to take its course. It will remain to be seen whether there was any provocation but whatever happened Haskell should and will get a ban.

Naughty!! Naughty!! Bokavenger, looks like you're on probation. Would be a shame to lose one of the great minds of world Rugby.

My apologies Mr or Mrs editor, I couldn't help myself.

@safehands: I'm just taking a leaf out of the Kiwi book. Whinging about Suzie, Wayne Barnes and everything else seems to have worked wonders for NZ - even prompting the IRB to rig the world cup so you guys would win it for a change.

The editor says.... BokAvenger - We heard you the first 300 times. Your comments are like spam emails. Find something new to say or you risk getting banned, again.
