Crusaders boss Todd Blackadder has made five changes to his run-on side for Friday's encounter against the Chiefs in Christchurch.

Captain Kieran Read replaces Luke Whitelock at number eight while Luke Romano takes over from Tom Donnelly at lock and the first-choice front row combination of Wyatt Crockett, Corey Flynn and Owen Franks return in place of Joe Moody, Ben Funnell and Nepo Laulala respectively.

There are no changes in the back-line. The Crusaders need at least one victory from their last two matches to qualify for the play-offs.

They are currently fifth on the table, with 51 points from 14 matches, and face the Hurricanes in their last league match in Christchurch on July 12.
