Richie McCaw trained with his Crusaders team-mates on Monday but will not take part in their crunch clash with the Chiefs.
The All Black is making his way back into the game after a six-month sabbatical and having trained independently last week, he has now joined up with the Crusaders squad.
However, despite this, assistant coach Tabai Matson believes that Friday's match against the front runners will come too early for the flanker.
''I think so. He just joined us to do his own fitness but it's always more fun when you are with mates,'' Matson is quoted as saying by Rugby Heaven.
Matson added that the 32-year-old would be relied on to make the call as to when he's ready to return.
''It's really up to him. Whether it be a club game, or the high-pressure of a Super Rugby match, really is something to be discussed over the coming days," said Matson.
