TOULON HEINEKEN CUP TROPHY

Global glory: Toulon

The possibility of a match between European champions Toulon and Super Rugby champions the Chiefs is reportedly drawing closer.

Sunday the 2nd of February has been sounded out by both sides as a date for the 'World Cup of Clubs' to take place, during a break in the Top 14 and before the start of the 2014 Super Rugby season - according to Midi Olympique.

The match would take place the day after France host England on the opening weekend of the Six Nations on February 1st.

The same report indicates that possible venues for the match include the Allianz Arena in Nice and the Stade Louis II in Monaco.

An agreement with European Rugby Cup Ltd - the ERC - will have to be happen in order for the match to go ahead, something which ERC chairman Jean-Pierre Lux has previously described as an 'impossible project'.

Multiple broadcasters are reportedly interested in showing the fixture should it go ahead.
