Cheetahs flanker Frans Viljoen will replace the injured Lappies Labuschagné in Friday's clash against the Hurricanes.
The Bloemfontein-based franchise's coach Naka Drotské confirmed that Viljoen will start in his fifth Super Rugby game this season and that his physicality could do the trick against the New Zealanders.
Labuschagné, who has been one of the Cheetahs' star performers this season, has been ruled out after injuring his elbow against the Kings in Round 11.
"Frans and Heins (Heinrich Brüssow) will start," Drotské told the Volksblad website.
"Frans is physical and the right guy to pick against a New Zealand team.
"Lappies is good in the line-outs and we'll miss his high work-rate, but there's nothing we can do about that."
With Viljoen being elevated to the starting line-up, Boom Prinsloo will provide back row cover off the replacements bench.
