Rumours are circulating in South Africa that former Springbok lock Victor Matfield will return to rugby action with the Bulls this season.
According to Die Burger and Sport24, the 36-year-old who won the World Cup in 2007 and retired in 2011, is set for a playing comeback this year.
Matfield was apparently unavailable for interview but the publications report that there will soon be a joint press release from the Bulls and Boks.
Should he return to Super Rugby and prove to South Africa head coach Heyneke Meyer he is capable of competing at international level, the possibility of him playing in the World Cup would grow. Matfield would be 38 years old at that point.
