The Blue Bulls have been dealt another blow ahead of the Currie Cup season with the news that flank Deon Stegmann needs surgery.
Medical tests on Wednesday confrimed that the 27-year-old will have to go under the knife to repair a shoulder injury, ruling him out of action for the rest of the year.
Stegmann joins Springbok scrum-half Francois Hougaard, who has an ankle injury, on the sidelines for the rest of the season.
This follows on from Wednesday's news that scrumhalf Francois Hougaard will also miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.
The Bulls also confirmed on Tuesday the depatures of eight Springboks with immediate effect:
Juandre Kruger (to Racing Metro, France);
Jacques Potgieter ( to Fukuoka Sanix Blues, Japan);
Dewald Potgieter (to Yamaha RFC, Japan);
Chiliboy Ralepelle (to Toulouse, France);
Jano Vermaak (to Toulouse, France);
Morne Steyn (Stade Francais, France);
Zane Kirchner (to Leinster, Ireland);
Wynand Olivier ( to Montpellier, France).
