The Blues were forced into a late change ahead of Friday's clash with the Hurricanes when Ma'a Nonu was ruled out with injury.

The All Blacks midfielder will not face his former franchise, who he represented in 110 matches, in Wellington due to tightness in his left calf.

He was battling to overcome the complaint throughout the week and after the Blues' medical staff reassessed his injury it was decided not to risk him.

Nonu will be replaced by Jackson Willison, who was originally left out of the matchday 23 for the match.
