I do not know what it is about the Blues.... potentially, a world beating squad.... but time and time again failing to properly fire.... But it also comes down to culture.... Ted Henry has managed to win titles with the Blues.... so, it is possible to win something wearing the Blues strip. These performances are not great.... what would have happened had the Chiefs coaches been appointed to the Blues, would they have made a difference? What is likely to be wrong is the culture at the Blues... and this will not be helped by the recent record.
Unfortunately, in professional sport the Head Coach (or manager in Association Football) usually takes responsibility for poor performances on the pitch. In this instance Pat Lam will more than likely be replaced.... Arguably, he is coming to the end of his current contract.... but he is unlikely to be offered a new contract. We can only wish Pat the best for the future.... Pat was certainly a wonderful rugby player..... many of us have very fond memories of his time at Northampton. There is no doubt about his playing pedigree.... yes, he has had some bad luck this time around.... but the results speak for themselves.

It's a cold world being a professional rugby coach. Most coaches would sympathise with Pat Lam's predicament. But even he would admit he had to go.
I hope they sort this out properly.

I can understand a team/coach being impacted on by the loss of ONE player due to injury. However, when a whole host of players get injured, then that speaks of poor coaching and development of the players.
Also, if senior players turn up late/unfit, says a lot about the respect they have for the coach.
Sorry, but time to silence the lam's ...(see what I did there?).

Pat Lam is still an extremely popular man and rightly so . I just think a different setup , hopefully in NZ would be good for him .

This isnt really a surprise ,though i have to admit injuries have played there part in the Blues freadful season and i feel @Colvin has hitghligted a problem inherent in the Blues the lack of class players being developed in house so to speak .Major revamp and overhaul in order i feel of the Blues mangement and strutures needed

I need to say a bit more about my earlier post. If 12 of your top 15 are out because of injury, not turning up on time or lack of fitness or form then you need to rely on your backup players.
It is in this area that the Blues setup failed. There are thousands of young players coming through in Auckland but they are not being developed properly or are lost to the game or to other teams. I can't believe it's Pat Lam's fault.

Great team on paper before the season started. Then injuries to Kaino, Toeava, Boric, Wulf, Woodcock, Mealamu, Raikuna became a major disruption. Then Weepu, Nonu and Ali Williams turned up either late or unfit and other ABs Ranger and Mika didn't perform. Confidence then fell in a hole.
Pat Lam gets the blame but it's the whole structure of Blues rugby that's out of kilter and has been for years, including the coaching structure they use.
There's an interesting statistic in NZ just now and that is that there is only one player from Auckland included in the 40 most recent new AB selections. Says something about the lack of player development in Auckland.
