kiwilad - woodcock at 10?
I'd be scared to suggest it . . . it may happen!
Maybe for Super rugby there could be a cutoff point at half-season, the bottom four teams drop out altogether. Save a couple of weeks for the tournament and spare the cannon fodder another 8 weeks of losses.

mctavish - yes that tag of 'all black stacked' looks quite different when you look at the records of the four 'just ABs' you mention. From the ABs site, these are their total playing minutes in tests: Mathewson 84 min (in 4 tests), Braid 254 (6), Stanley 215 (3), Ranger 101 (3). None ever looked like becoming fixtures, stop-gap fillers at best.
The continual rotation of players through 9 and 10 . . have they played the same starting combination twice? Normally an area you'd prefer to be stable, instead a different pairing per game. Anscombe's a star, man of the match after his 29 points v Bulls, now out of the 22 altogether.
Weepu playing his club rugby back in Wainuiomata (Wellington) and talk of shifting back to Hurricanes . . a team in self-destruct, must be difficult to motivate them for the second half of the season.

Chop and change, chop and change , I hope this rough ride young Anscombe is getting doesn't ruin him,a big talent for. With so many of his teammates not performing around him he can't shoulder all the responsibility for the poor team performances.

Look at the 22 names listed there... They are where they should be. The 3 established All Blacks, Nonu, Weepu and Williams are playing to the level of those around them. No surprise really. And while Mathewson, Braid, Stanley and Ranger have worn the Black Jersey, they have only flirted with Test Rugby. Not good enough to be regulars. Worst of the NZ teams on paper, going to be a tough few years for the Blues. Gone from an All Black stacked squad to this. Shame.

The way Pat Lam is going, I am surprised Tony Woodcock is not playing 10.
