Jake White: Quits?

Brumbies head coach Jake White has quit his post and will walk away from the side with two years on his deal.

The news broke on Wednesday, with White apparently seeking a release from his contract on Friday and reports in the Australian press have suggested that the Brumbies have agreed to release the former Springbok coach.

Local media outlets are citing the 2007 World Cup-winners disappointment at missing out on the Wallaby job as the reason for wanting to leave Australia.

The 50-year-old is currently on holiday in South Africa and is expected to meet Brumbies captain Ben Mowen in Cape Town ahead of the Wallabies' clash against the Springboks at Newlands this weekend to discuss his reasons for leaving.

White also has business interests in South Africa which are believed to have contributed to his desire to return home.

In the two years under White, the Brumbies went from 13th in the 2011 Super Rugby season to finishing as runners up this year. He was named Australian Super Rugby coach of the year last month.
