Brumbies utility forward Peter Kimlin has revealed that he could make an immediate return to Australian rugby from Grenoble next year.

Kimlin admitted that the prospect of playing in Super Rugby's knockout stages and the chance to play with the Wallabies could see him returning to the Brumbies.

He will play his first finals match when the Brumbies host the Cheetahs in their play-off on Sunday.

Kimlin has signed a one-year deal with Grenoble but has an option to stay or return home in the second season.

The French season starts in September and can run to June.

Kimlin admits that playing in the finals and being part of the Wallabies squad for the recent British and Irish Lions series could see him returning sooner than expected. He also made it clear that if he does come back, it will only be to the Brumbies.

''I've got an option to come back and I honestly could,'' he told the Canberra Times

''At this stage I'm going to play French footy next season and that's it. If [new Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie] wants me to come back I'll put it on the table.''
