Quietly confident: Jake White

Brumbies boss Jake White hopes his team's poor showing against the Western Force will be a wake-up call ahead of Sunday's play-off clash with the Cheetahs in Canberra.

White's charges committed 17 handling errors before suffering a shock 21-15 defeat to the Force in Perth on Saturday. A bonus-point victory for the Australian Conference winners would have secured them second spot on the table and a home semi-final.

Instead, they will how face the unpredictable Cheetahs in their play-off clash.

White admitted that his side's performance against the Force were below their normal high standards but he is confident they can turn things around by next weekend.

"We know we can't get any worse than we were tonight," he told AAP.

"It's going to be a wake-up call now.

"We have now obviously got the low road in that we've got to play three games if we want to win the championship.

"But it's not all doom or gloom.

"We know we've played a lot of good rugby this year.

"We can't be worrying about the fact (of whether) this is going to dent any confidence."
