Aware: Luke Charteris

Wales star Luke Charteris is wary of the problems posed by England's maturing lock combination of Joe Launchbury and Courtney Lawes.

The Perpignan second row, who will turn 31 at Twickenham next Sunday, believes that England's relatively new pairing will be a level up from the France pairing of Pascal Papé and Yoann Maestri who fell in Cardiff.

"They are both really good players. They played a bit last year but injuries derailed them both," Charteris told WalesOnline.

"They are part of a young and very promising pack and it will be a step up for us after France.

"The boys were the first to admit we didn't perform very well as a pack against Ireland but we have worked hard on addressing a lot of those issues.

"We fixed some of them but there are more things to put right because England will pose problems at line-out and scrum-time."

Charteris also added that England should have won in Paris and that their fitness will be a challenge for Wales to keep up with.

"England look like they are a fitter team than France and they will match us better on that side of things," added Charteris.

"They have looked very impressive and probably should have won their first game against France.

"They'll be disappointed they didn't and, against Ireland and Scotland, they looked really good."

England will once again walk through the car park at Twickenham in a bid to soak up the extra atmosphere from the fans in the car park outside the stadium, a routine that worked well ahead of facing Ireland but that Charteris added sometimes goes awry with Perpignan.

"It's something we do at Perpignan," said Charteris.

"The crowds come so early, they are crazy. They are all drinking and eating and partying before the game, and we walk through that atmosphere.

"They will either cheer you or heckle you, depending whether it's a home or away game.

"We've had a few windows on the bus smashed as we've driven into a few places. It is slightly more hostile!"
