Scotland have announced that Pat MacArthur will wear their number 16 shirt after Dougie Hall was ruled out for this weekend's clash with Italy.
The uncapped 25-year-old Glasgow Warriors hooker will be the matchday 23 for the first time after his Warriors team-mate Hall was ruled out.
"Dougie has a mild strain of his knee which will not settle in time for this weekend's game," said Scotland team doctor James Robson.
MacArthur said: "It's a huge honour to have the chance to play for my country. It's something I've dreamed about since I started playing mini rugby at Ayr and aimed for since I became a professional with Glasgow Warriors."
Meanwhile, there is better news on Scotland's injured blindside flanker Alasdair Strokosch.
"Alasdair was seen by a specialist at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital this week and the injury was diagnosed as a fracture of the orbital floor (the area around the eye)," said Robson.
"Alasdair is returning to his club in France and will be in their care. If he has no complications he should be available to return to action in four weeks' time."

Explains why D.Hall lost his place to the under performing R.Ford.Injuries can be such a pain.Lets hope R.Ford has learnt his lesson by being benched, and stats performing ,rather than coasting and not gving a 100%.His jersey isnt safe by any means ,and quite a few other scottish players need to know that aswell imo.
