Sale Sharks boss Steve Diamond has revealed the club are close to signing a new back-row forward, pending a visa application.
Diamond is in the market for a number eight and the new recruit for the Sharks has been plying his trade in the ITM Cup in New Zealand.
Sale have already recruited one New Zealander this season - forward Michael Paterson from the Cardiff Blues.
Having survived a relegation scare last season, Sale have made a bright start to their new campaign with three wins from five in the Aviva Premiership and a victory over Biarritz in the Amlin Challenge Cup, with Diamond now looking to build on their new foundations.
"The player in question is still playing in New Zealand as we speak but the visa application has gone in and as soon as that is complete he will join us, fingers crossed, at the beginning to the middle of November," Diamond told the Manchester Evening News.
"We had been looking for another back row player all summer and the guy that we identified is playing over in New Zealand in the ITM Cup and he comes highly-recommended from our contacts over there and we think we've got a good lad who will come in and add something to the squad."
