Sad news: David Tait

Rugby followers will be saddened to hear the news that former Sale Sharks back-row forward David Tait has died at the age of 25, the club confirmed.

Tait, whose Premiership career at the Sharks was cut short by injuries, is understood to have fallen from an apartment block in Hong Kong.

The former Sedbergh School player moved to the Far East after Sale and soon became a corporate finance manager for multinational firm KPMG.

"The rugby community will be shattered by the passing of such a gifted and popular young man who was respected by everyone he played alongside," Rugby Players' Association chief executive Damian Hopley told the Manchester Evening News.

"He wasn't simply a talented rugby player, he was also extremely bright and successful in his life outside of rugby.

"We will do everything we can to help support David's family and the players who played alongside him. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers."

Such sad news as a Sale fan. Thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

This is the second tragedy after Selorm Kuadey for us to have felt in the last year. No matter what is going on, there is so much more to life than sport. something that always should be remembered.
