Northampton Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder hailed his side's victory over Harlequins as "an outstanding result."
Saints landed an early blow in the race for the top four with a 13-6 win at The Stoop in horrendous conditions on Friday.
James Wilson scored the only try of the match as both Stephen Myler and Harlequins number ten Nick Evans struggled at time to find the target when kicking for goal.
Whilst Northampton's exciting backs including George North and Kahn Fotuali'i were left subdued by the weather, Northampton's pack fronted up away from home to please Mallinder.
"To come away to somewhere like this and win is an outstanding result," said Mallinder.
"It was a horrible Friday night. Harlequins are quite rightly serious contenders for the Premiership. To come here and beat them is significant.
"I'm very pleased. It was always going to be tight and it was a question of getting your set-piece right.
"Stephen Myler kicked well and then we got our try-scoring opportunity and took it."
