@ ramm83 - do you really need a list? Do you know THAT little about England rugby? Or are you taking the p!$$..?

CL not a dirty player or a liability. Just hard and comitted. I don't understand why people jump on the bandwagon with these accusations. It's just not the case. He is a class act with a very bright future.

C'mon Courtney, you're the best england has in that position and a potential world beater when you reach your prime in your late 20's, all we need is you to stop getting injured. I hate it when people insult his physicality...he plays rugby hard but he plays fair too. I've never seen him pull anything dirty like morgan parra's gouging and I don't see parra being rilled like Lawes about being a 'dirty' player

@JamieTheProp - Strength in depth in the second row? Where and whom?

@APV1
Agree, not a dirty player. One or two bad hits but overall just a very hard player. I think he can be one of the best in the future.

There's Dave Attwood if he ever gets his act together. That would be a hard uncompromising second row partnership!

@ sirtidychris & markmassive - I think Attwood's probably the next closest in that mould and I'd love to see him partner CL. Even if I take off my blue-black-and-white-tinted specs, I still see Attwood as a future England 2R. But he's not in the EPS, so no idea in the mean time.
@ markmassive - actually they did worry about MJ's temper, but thankfully he managed to, erm, temper it.

markmassive....i definately agree that at least one SR has to fill the super agressive enforcer role, skirting on the edge of whats legal and not, guys like Martin Johnson, Bakkies Botha and Brad Thorn are the epitomy of this. I think Attwood could definatley fill this role, during his gloucester days he was a real star however a couple of silly incidents where he skirted on the wrong side of the law has seen him drift out of england contention. We need to see Attwood back to his rampaging best in 2012/13 then i really think Engalnd will have a SR partnership to take on anyone.

Does anyone remember Martin Johnson holding players down by their throats? no one said my god he's a liability.
Also sirtidychris I think he needs an equally agressive second row partner, its a shame there isn't a player in a similar mould as CL. Is there anyone close to that standard in the pipeline?

If you don't give away any penalties, you're not really trying....

JamieTheProp a liability? Do you even watch Rugby? Courtney Lawes is one of our outstanding young talents. His agression in being commited in the tackle area is a sight to behold. I'll tell you one thing I'd rather have him smashing into the big Saffas than Mouritz 'MOBO' Botha...
I'll say one thing Lawes needs to learn and thats how to carry the ball into contact, but he'll learn cause he's young. But defensively a liabilty I completely disagree.

Head and shoulders above any of the second rows we have at the moment, Lawes is the future and at only 23 is still nowhere near his prime, we need him to get fit and have a good run of games for northampton so he wil be firing come the autumn internationals. I agree he is hotheaded but he will learn with experience, the question is who to partner him with (attwood, kitchener, parling, deacon, palmer etc, etc)

I think his fitness might be considered a liability at the moment, but that's about it. He's somehow managed to get himself an unfair (imo) reputation as a dirty player, where-as I think he's just an uncompromising and hard player.
Get well soon CL - in time for consideration for the Autumn internationals. Strength in depth is good, but not if they're all injured!

The man is made of glass - luckily England have strength in depth in his position! And in my opinion he's talented but a liability on the pitch anyway!
