Frustration: Dai Young

London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young apologised for the "unacceptable performance" produced in the 28-5 loss to Bath on Sunday.

Semesa Rokoduguni scored an early brace of tries with Matt Garvey adding a third for the visitors as Wasps could only muster a late consolation score from scrum-half Jonah Holmes.

Young held little back in assessing his side's shortcomings, commenting on their lack of "bite" and expecting a response travelling to London Irish next weekend.

"Bath really didn't have to fight too hard for it, that's the disappointing factor," said Young.

"It was pretty much an unacceptable performance. We lacked quality in everything we did today.

"Our front row came off second best and really struggled and when we had the ball we never went past four phases so we ended up defending for long periods.

"We were really flat. We lacked enthusiasm and excitement today. When we did have the ball, we didn't build any momentum or pressure. We never stretched them.

"We owe our fans an apology because we let them down.

"Our forwards have done well all season and the scrum has been on top in most of our games but when that didn't work we struggled for any penetration or spark - or anything really. We were second best by a margin."

Bath coach Mike Ford on the other hand was pleased with his team's clinical display, even if they failed to come away with a try bonus point, whilst reserving praise for the work of coaches Toby Booth and Neil Hatley at scrum-time.

"We played well away from home - a very clinical, professional performance," said Ford.

"We're pretty disappointed we never got four tries in the end.

"They boys are maturing and the work Neal and Toby have done with the forwards has been sensational this year.

"You saw today the dominance at scrum and lineout time. There's not many teams this year have got the better of us in the tight forward play.

"The amount of detail and the way they train the boys - and the way the boys play for each other - is a credit to them. They have done a fantastic job."
