Little to cheer: Dai Young

London Wasps boss Dai Young had few words of support for his side after their 24-21 loss to Saracens in the LV= Cup.

Late tries from Neil Cochrane and Ben Jacobs gave Wasps the chance of completing an unlikely comeback, but it wasn't to be.

"The team showed plenty of heart and spirit to stage that comeback but I'm hugely disappointed with our performance," said Young.

"The ball was turned over by us 16 times, there were 13 handling errors and there will be no taps on the back for the players from the coaching staff. Saracens made far less mistakes and they deserved to win."

Saracens scored four tries through Richard Barrington, Jack Wilson, Ben Ransom and Nick Tompkins to collect a bonus point before falling away badly, although coach Alex Sanderson was left encouraged by the overall performance.

"The wheels fell off at the end, we slipped off a few tackles and our set piece didn't function in the way that it should.

"However, certain parts of our game were encouraging but there are certain things which need to be fixed.

"Our game was to put pressure on their kickers, which we did and we capitalised on that.

"We have a much stronger LV= squad than in recent seasons.

"It's a competition we've never won and we'd like to win it as winning gives the club great momentum."
