Major blow: Andrea Masi

London Wasps and Italian international back Andrea Masi is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.

Masi suffered a knee injury in the loss to Sale Sharks two weeks ago in the Aviva Premiership.

The 32-year-old suffered a complete tear of his MCL and a partial tear of his PCL ligaments in the match at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Masi, who has 80 caps for Italy, will now be out for around 16-20 weeks according to the club. The news means he will miss Italy's November International schedule.

The former Biarritz and Racing Métro star will now also be in a race against time to be fit for next year's Six Nations.
