Wasps wings Christian Wade and Tom Varndell believe that their new defensive focus will result in more try scoring opportunities.
Brad Davis, the Wasps defensive coordinator, has spent the pre-season working on a system that will transform the side into a watertight defensive unit and prevent the tries that were leaked all too easily last year.
Outside backs would normally be despondent when their team's attitude shifts towards a more defensive game, but Christian Wade and Tom Varndell believe that it could create even more opportunities.
"We're going to look to get more attack from the way we defend. You will probably see forwards getting into the game a bit more and the structure of attack change a little bit," said Wade to Bucks Free Press.
"You'll probably see different players getting their hands on the ball all over the park and tries being scored by all players, not just the wingers.
"And we will probably get tries off turnover ball and force errors from other teams. We've got that potential. We just need to use what Stephen Jones has brought in in attack and Brad Davis in defence and bring those together."
"Supporters are going to see a more rounded Wasps this year," said Varndell.
"Brad has added something to the team that we were lacking last year. It won't affect our game in a negative way.
"It's only going to add things and hopefully we can pick up a few more tries from our defensive performances."
