London Wasps young star Elliot Daly has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks after picking up an injury in pre-season.
Daly has fractured a metatarsal bone in his foot and has now undergone surgery to repair the injury.
The injury means that Daly should be ruled out until the beginning of October, forcing him to miss out on the first month of the new domestic season.
Daly enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2012-2013, scoring 46 points in the Aviva Premiership including five tries.
His good form meant that Daly was selected by the Barbarians against both England at Twickenham and then against the British and Irish Lions in Hong Kong.
Adept at centre, wing or full-back, the news regarding the 20-year-old's injury will come as a significant blow to Wasps ahead of the new season.
