Very good feeling: Matera

Leicester back-row Pablo Matera was delighted to score his first try for the club, with Argentinian supporters cheering him on at Welford Road.

Although the score came in an LV= Cup defeat to Bath, international flanker Matera said crossing for five points was an emotional moment.

"I shouted when I scored," he told the Tigers' website following Friday's home defeat.

"It was a very good feeling. You never know how it will be when you score your first try but it was very emotional for me.

"I had some help from (Tom) Bristow. I felt him pushing me and thought let's get some more steps and I managed to reach out for the line."

What made his score all the more special was the fact that Matera was cheered on by members of the Buenos Aires Cricket and Rugby Club and the Belgrano Athletic Club, who were at the stadium whilst on tour in England.

Following the game, both Matera and Bath prop Juan Pablo Orlandi went over to greet their fellow countrymen.

"I heard a shout on the field during the match and though that it was not an English shout, that it was an Argentinian one!" Matera explained.

"I realised it was the club. I played against some of them back home in Argentina.

"After the match finished we went over to say hi to them and took some photos with them. It was nice to see them at the game."
