Leicester Tigers have announced the recruitment of New Zealand-born centre Terrence Hepetema after injuries to their squad.
Hepetema is the 11th new arrival at Welford Road ahead of the new season, arriving in time to be in contention for selection following injuries to Matt Smith and Manu Tuilagi.
Tuilagi is a major doubt for the opening match of the season against Worcester Warriors this weekend, whilst Matt Smith will be out for three months after injuring his thumb.
The 21-year-old has previously spent time with the NSW Waratahs and Leicester boss Richard Cockerill believes he will continue to improve following his move to England.
"Terrence spent time with the Waratahs at the end of last season and he is a big lad who will just keep getting bigger and stronger," Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.
"He is still a young lad who has come over here because the opportunity has arisen with the injuries we have had in the centres.
"He has all the traits that you would expect from someone with Maori heritage."
