Manu Tuilagi going over for Leicester Tigers

A brace: Manu Tuilagi

Leicester made it two wins from two in the Premiership after claiming a 34-26 bonus-point victory over Worcester.

The Tigers managed to up their game when pressed by Worcester to score five tries to add to the six they managed in last Sunday's victory over London Welsh.

The home side got off to a great start when, with just two minutes on the clock, Tuilagi was on hand to finish off a fine counter attack that started from turnover ball from inside their own 22.

Fijian flyer Vereniki Goneva, who played a part in the build up to the first try of the game, was again involved in creating Tuilagi's second of the game with a scintillating run. Toby Flood added a second conversion and a further penalty with former Tiger, Andy Goode, kicking three penalties in reply. Goode went on to score 21 of Worcester's points.

Tellingly Worcester's Chris Pennell was yellow-carded on the stroke of half-time, and the Warriors were made to pay almost immediately after the restart when Goneva galloped over for his second try in as many games since his move to Welford Road.

A trademark David Lemi try from a 50-metre run briefly raised Worcester's spirits only for scrum-half Shaun Perry to see yellow just as Pennell returned from the sin-bin.

It took Leicester until the 65th-minute to take further advantage of their numerical superiority, a penalty try, converted by Flood, putting them 29-16 in front.

After a Goode penalty had reduced the arrears with nine minutes to go, Leicester struck again through lock Graham Kitchener to make the game safe.

But it was left to Goode to have the final word on his old stomping ground, after he converted Alex Grove's last minute consolation try.
