Determined: Elliott Stooke

Gloucester second-row Elliott Stooke has warned his side cannot afford to lose focus as they did on Saturday against Newcastle.

The Cherry and Whites led comfortably going into the final 20 minutes, but leaked some 26 points to surrender a losing bonus point to the Falcons.

Stooke knows Gloucester must avoid such a collapse when they take on Exeter Chiefs this weekend.

"We got the win but it felt like we lost. Nobody wants to end up in that position," Stooke told the Gloucester Citizen.

"With 15-20 minutes to go we're 30-points up and it was like we all started playing blind, in all honesty it's a bit humiliating.

"It sums up our season, 60 minutes of that game we were playing some cracking rugby but then at the end it all went AWOL.

"We're all working extremely hard to change that around.

"Discipline let us down again, they were kicking penalties to pin us at the back of the field and Kev (Matt Kvesic) was yellow-carded.

"He's such a good player and it's always such tight margins because he's playing on the ball and he had the rough end of the stick.

"We can't blame him for that but as a team discipline let us down and we didn't deal at source during the lineouts.

"But at the same time it's good that we got the win and five-points, obviously defence is something we've got to tighten up.

"Everyone clicked, Ryan Mills bossed us around, (Dan) Robson and (Jimmy) Cowan got us going where we wanted as a pack of forwards.

"We all know what we'll be working on in training this week.

"Exeter like to play first and we're looking forward to getting out there and performing for 80 minutes."
