Gloucester have announced that their current Academy manager Andrew Stanley will take over as the club's new forwards coach with immediate effect.
With the club's previous forwards coach, Carl Hogg, moving up the M5 recently to become the new head coach at Worcester Warriors, Gloucester drector of Rugby Nigel Davies has moved quickly to fill the vacancy.
Stanley, of course, is no stranger to followers of Gloucester. Most recently, he has been the Academy manager for the past 12 months having occupied the same role at Worcester for some years.
But he has Gloucester Rugby running through his veins, having enjoyed a lengthy and successful playing career with the Cherry and Whites.
A qualified RFU Level 5 coach, he played almost 200 first team games for Gloucester before he retired from senior rugby in 1998.
Following a spell as director of rugby with Hartpury College, he moved to Worcester Warriors as their Academy manager in 2005 before returning to Gloucester in the same role a year ago.
Davies confirmed that Stan, as he is known by everyone at Kingsholm, is exactly the right man for the job.
"Stan has impressed everyone at the club over the past 12 months with his rugby knowledge and also his strong work ethic," he said.
"He very quickly earned everyone's respect when he joined us last summer.
"He's Gloucester Rugby through and through, totally buys into what we're trying to achieve and is completely committed to doing what's best for the club.
"He's challenging himself and moving from what some might say is a slightly safer role.
"But he's more than qualified to take on this new position, I know he's excited about it and I'm confident that he's going to be a great success."
