Gloucester outside centre Henry Trinder has revealed that his backs coach Mike Tindall has urged the club to play a fearless brand of rugby.
Under new boss Nigel Davies it has taken a little time for everything to click - with defence rather than the attack standing out in a 16-16 draw at Worcester Warriors last week in which Trinder and Tindall were midfield partners.
And while Trinder, who scored their only try at Sixways, admits that a period of adjustment was inevitable at Kingsholm after a change of management, he insists it is now time for the Cherry and Whites to find their feet.
"We definitely feel like we are going in the right direction but it's obviously taking a while," he said.
"It's the same mindset as last season but with a few changes of personnel behind the scenes.
"Mike wants us to play with no fear out there and that's great for all us outside backs. We need to carry the team a bit as well now.
"It takes a while but we feel we had a good pre-season behind us and our defence has been pretty good in terms of points conceded. Even against Worcester they had a few line breaks but we didn't feel in trouble.
"We didn't have a great record at Sixways so obviously that was a good result for us."
While Trinder, Jonny May, Freddie Burns and Charlie Sharples were already part of a Gloucester back-line packed with young English talent last season there was one new arrival seen by many as the final piece in the puzzle.
While Billy Twelvetrees started at fly-half at the weekend, Trinder admits he cannot wait to join up with the former Leicester player in midfield again after their only start together in the centres came in the 40-31 win at London Irish.
"Billy is great for us," he added.
"He's a big strong lad with great distribution so really nice to play with for me.
"With the game he likes to play we don't have to change our style of play at all.
"I've played with him before a couple of years ago so I know what he's like and it's great that he's always really positive in how he likes to play.
"I'm feeling really good at the moment, but I came into the season off the back of a bit of a knock which disrupted my pre-season.
"I feel fit but I need to get my game fitness back and I know that won't happen straightaway. Nigel Davies has backed me all the way through though."
