Positive spin from Skirving

Taking things forward: Skirving

Bath back-row Ben Skirving insists that Saturday's loss to Northampton has been turned into a positive ahead of travelling to take on London Irish.

The West Country outfit's winning start to the Aviva Premiership came to an end last weekend when Saints prevailed 18-14 at the Recreation Ground.

Despite that defeat, Skirving is adamant Gary Gold's men can recover and claim their first piece of silverware since the Challenge Cup in 2008.

"We've been working on a couple of things after the weekend, we put in another positive performance which is the main thing," he said.

"Things just didn't go our way in the end but in terms of the performance there were things we can definitely take forward.

"We were very physical which was one of our aims, and we were also strong in the set piece areas which was pleasing.

"We'll move on to the next task now and try and regain the momentum - that's very important for us.

"It's not all about the results, sometimes they don't go your way, it's about how you apply yourself afterwards that's key."

Yes I think GG can take a lot of credit. Barkley kicking well but some shocking decision making in attack.

If they didn't kick all of their posession away to the opposition and tried running it a bit more, we might have won.

A back three of Bendy, Eastmond and Biggs and we continue to hoof it? Nonsense. Look at Bendy's try (AP Try of the Week, by the way!) - speed, fancy footwork, an excellent grubber, (a lot of luck with the bounce) and a good combo from Biggs and Bendy. Marvellous stuff.

The sooner we get Beaver or TH back at 10 and Barkley back to 12, the better.

Anyone else wonder whether it's the Saffa Coach influence? I think GG's doing great things, but this is a bit of a concern for me...
