The Brumbies claimed their first win of the Super Rugby season on Saturday with 27-14 victory over the Western Force at nib Stadium.

The Brumbies outscored their hosts three tries to two, impressing with their offloading and positive attacking intent in the first half, but switched off in the second period to allow the Force to score twice in the closing minutes.

It was one-way traffic in Perth as the Brumbies scored three unanswered tries to cruise to a 21-0 lead after just 23 minutes and were up 24-0 by half time.

Scott Fardy, Jesse Mogg and Robbie Coleman all touched down before the interval but the Brumbies bus came to a slow halt thereafter.

One has to question the logic behind kicking at goal instead of chasing the four-try bonus point when the result was secured. Twice Nic White was told to bring out the kicking tee, allowing the Force to enjoy some territory after the restarts as the second-half became an evenly-contested affair.

Jayden Hayward and Ben McCalman both touched down in the last five minutes, but the Brumbies had already bolted.

Having conceded six tries to the Waratahs last week, the Force look set for a very long season if they can't sort their defence out. Their attack wasn't much better - it took over an hour for the home side to make their first clean line-break.

The silver lining for the Force will be the final quarter, when they showed great fighting spirit to bring some respectability to the scoreline.
