Leinster crush Treviso

Sean Cronin Leinster try pro12

Two tries: Sean Cronin

Leinster flank Dominic Ryan bagged a hat-trick as the Irish giants thumped Treviso 40-5 in the PRO12 at the RDS on Saturday.

Ryan and Sean Cronin both went over twice in the first half as the Irish province effectively secured the five points before the interval.

Further tries from Ryan and Leo Auva'a rubberstamped their authority, despite Ludovico Nitoglia touching down for a consolation for Treviso.

The hosts struggled in the early part of the season with several of their international stars not available to them. But their league form has been much improved since and Joe Schmidt's men have come back into play-off contention.

Both teams were severely depleted due to the Six Nations, but it was Treviso who were hardest hit with the Dublin-based outfit able to call on some impressive reserves. And it was no surprise to see them dominate from the start.

Two tries in the first 13 minutes from Ryan and Cronin put Leinster in charge as they led 12-0 after 13 minutes.

Treviso were typically spirited but their second string was no match for Schmidt's charges and the same two forwards got themselves on the scoresheet again as they took a 26-0 lead into half-time.

Ryan was soon crossing the whitewash in the second period for his third of the evening before Nitoglia scampered over for the Italian outfit's only score.

With a dominant lead already established, the Irish province struggled to recapture the fluency of the opening period, but Auva'a touched down late on to complete a convincing win.

This is Madigan's chance to take the reigns at both Leinster and Ireland me thinks... I hope Cave's incredible performance last night for Ulster doesn't go unnoticed either.

Two players who really should have more than a couple of International caps !!!
