Glasgow too good for Dragons

Glasgow: Roar past Dragons

A dominant second-half display from Glasgow secured a comfortable 37-6 victory over a disappointing Dragons outfit.

Glasgow were looking to make it back-to-backs win following a narrow away triumph over Treviso, while the Dragons had lost their last four in all competitions.

An inconspicuous start from Glasgow suggested there wouldn't be much between the two teams, though Scott Wight's penalty on six minutes gave the hosts an early lead.

The lead was increased when Peter Murchie was first to a hopeful hack forward, with Wight's conversion making it 10-0 after 16 minutes.

Though continuing to dominate territory and possession it took almost half an hour for Glasgow to add to their lead. They did so when Gordy Reid sped away from the ruck for the most opportunistic of tries, much to the delight of the vociferous home support.

Wight's second conversion made it 17-0, before Tom Prydie finally got the Dragons off the mark with a penalty goal. Prydie and Wight then traded further three-pointers before half-time, but it was the Warriors who were good value for their 20-6 interval lead.

The Dragons knew they needed to hit first following the restart to stand a realistic chance of taking victory, but it was Tom Ryder's try for Glasgow just five minutes in that left the Welsh visitors with a mountain to climb.

And, as much as the Dragons worked for a way back into the game, it was Glasgow who added further tries to underline their superiority.

Nikola Matawalu's ball-handling masterclass sent Tommy Seymour over for the bonus point try on 64 minutes, and the winger completed a quickfire brace just minutes later when he regathered his own chip over the defence to round off the scoring.

Makes one wonder why Seymour hasn't made the Scotland team to play NZ next week.
