In charge: Bulls show Reds who's the boss in Pretoria

The Bulls ran eight tries past the Reds to record a comprehensive 61-8 Super Rugby win at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
It was a convincing display by the hosts, who dominated the injury-plagued defending champions to notch up their second bonus-point win of the season.
Morne Steyn had a good day with the boot, slotting all of his eight attempts at goal - a much needed confidence booster for the Springbok following a poor kicking display in the 29-23 Blues defeat a fortnight ago.
Further adding to the Reds woes are injuries sustained to hooker Saia Faingaa and centre Jono Lance, who before going down in the 56th minute was arguably the Reds best performer from the match.
Both teams took to the match with attacking intentions although it was the South Africans who made the most of their opportunities to lead 16-3 at half-time courtesy of a try to Bulls full-back Zane Kirchner and 11 points through the boot of Steyn.
The Bulls continued their attacking ascendency after the break, but this time the second-half was horribly one-sided - Jacques Potgieter's powerful running and great hands from Steyn put centre Wynand Olivier over just after the re-start.
Lock Flip van der Merwe bulldozed over, then Potgieter scored the try of the match as he burst clear from the halfway line and held off the cover defence to secure the bonus point.
Replacement scrum-half Jano Vermaak sniped over from a ruck in the 66th minute, before flank CJ Stander scored from a rolling maul six minutes later.
Replacement fly-half Louis Fouche's conversion put the Bulls' score past the half-century mark and the replacements continued to tear into the Reds, with centre JJ Engelbrecht and Bjorn Basson scoring tries in the last five minutes.
It was the second time in five years that the Reds had been hammered at Loftus following a record 92-3 defeat in 2007.

Comprehensive win for the Bulls. Looking very solid once again from 1-15 with some very good young guys.
The Reds were easily the best team in 2011 but as usually happens the following year, teams have worked them out. Unfortunately even when they do get a half decent 10 back I don't expect they'll fare much better.

@ jonesy2 says [on another thread last week] " ...the depth of the reds is rivalled only by the crusaders and maybe the blues and waratahs..." would you care to revise your position?

Keste03, clearly you didn't see Harlequins-Bath today. And rugbylover, it was the Crusaders scored the 96 (63 at half-time), not the Waratahs.

A decent show from the Bulls. Impressed By Spies, his new role as captain seems to give him more attitude and resolve.
Potgieter outstanding too, Bulls' backline looks great.
Trinats, wtf designed that Red's shirt???? Dolce and Gabbana?? You need to meet Stade Francais soon, the throphy is the most horrible outfit in rugby history.

The Reds were obviously suffering from Jetlag..
They were still half asleep, and wearing their PJ shirts..
Or is the weight of the shackles beginning to show?
Well done Bulls.
BUT wait, Trinats will tell us all that the REF was to blame..

@martinmarais78 - Super Rugby is generally overrated. Seen most of the games this season and - compared to earlier - the level of play has fallen.

Filling in for tri-prats.
1. All our best players are injured, banned, in jail.
2. It was a saffa ref [OK, I know he's still probably the best in the world, but......
3. It was in SA. We operate best at home with Stuart.
4. The record is still held by The Waratahs v Crusaders, 96 - 13.
5. Er..............

The wheels are finally starting to fall off for the most overated team in Super rugby. Screw the injury excuses, last year was a fluke! No way Australia could ever produce a constant good team... Stick to Aussie rules sheep@#%&*/+ !!!!
