New start: Benjamin Fall

France international Benjamin Fall is looking forward to 'starting from scratch' following his move to Montpellier from Racing Métro.

The record transfer in the Top 14 when he moved to Paris from Bayonne for €506,000 in 2010, the 25-year-old endured a torrid stint in the French capital.

Now starting afresh, Fall detailed his unravelling in Paris and excitement at playing 'the Montpellier way'.

"When things aren't going well, you doubt everything and redouble your efforts. You overtrain, the tiredness comes and your body reaches breaking point," Fall told Rugbyrama.

"The style of play at Racing is quite destructive. I've come here to rediscover the joy of playing, and the choice of Montpellier was a natural one.

"The expansive game produced here over the last four years has been huge, it's nice to see and fun to play. The philosophy of the coaches is to give free rein to the players."

Another reason for Fall's move is the chance to work his way back into contention for selection with France ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup.

Fall has won six caps for France, scoring two tries since his debut in 2009, with his most recent appearances coming the 2013 Six Nations. France lost on all three occasions.

"It's in a corner of my mind but I try not to think about it too much. I'm counting on this year to relaunch myself," added Fall.

"If at first with Montpellier I can get playing time and consistently perform then I think if I succeed, my return to the France team will happen naturally.

"I'm starting from scratch and it is up to me to prove afresh that I can play at that level."
