Financial boost: Biarritz

Biarritz have been given a second cash injection in a month by local authorities to help the struggling French side avoid further woes.

The five-time league winners and twice Heineken Cup runners-up were recently relegated from the Top 14, ending an 18-year stay in the top tier.

But the side now coached by Eddie O'Sullivan received a boost on Monday when the local authorities in south western France agreed to give them 400,000 euros ($543,000) in addition to 300,000 euros ($407,000) already voted last May.

The National Directorate of Management Control (DNACG) have been given the task of overseeing Biarritz's finances, with the cash conditional on transparency and city officials being allowed to view the club's finances in the future.
