Wales look set to have centre Jamie Roberts at their disposal for the Six Nations opener after he was passed fit by Racing Métro.
Roberts had been sidelined since damaging a knee against Toulon two weeks ago, causing major concern over his availability for the first match of this year's Championship against Italy on February 1.
However Racing's staff have now given Roberts the all-clear to play this weekend in the Heineken Cup against Clermont.
Roberts has endured a difficult start to life with the Parisian side due to injury, including ankle ligament damage that forced him to miss the November Internationals last year.
The 27-year-old now though looks set to be part of the Wales squad to face the Azzurri should he come through this weekend unscathed.
Wales were down to only Scott Williams in midfield given injuries to Roberts, Jonathan Davies, Cory Allen and Owen Williams.
