George North Scarlets 2012

OK: George North

Scarlets and Wales wing George North has been cleared of any serious damage to his neck after being stretchered off on Friday.

The British and Irish Lions hopeful was placed in a brace during Friday's defeat to Ulster at Ravenhill, sparking fears over the rest of his season.

The Scarlets have confirmed that there is 'no significant or serious damage' to the 20-year-old's neck.

In a statement on Saturday, the club have confirmed he will be further assessed by the Scarlets medical team on Monday. It is however too early to assess the full extent of the injury or indeed the recovery period at this stage.

"The Scarlets would like to express their gratitude for the concern raised by supporters and colleagues in the rugby world regarding George North following the neck injury he sustained," read the statement.

"The Scarlets winger was taken to hospital after the incident where as a precaution his neck was both x-rayed and scanned.

"The results from the two scans showed that there was no significant or serious damage to his neck."

North travelled home with the rest of his Scarlets team-mates on Saturday on a flight from Belfast.
