We've got to win - Schofield

Desperate: Dean Schofield

Worcester second-row Dean Schofield has revealed that the mood is "really positive" at the Warriors ahead of Saturday's meeting with Oyonnax.

The basement English side, who sit bottom in both the Aviva Premiership table and their Amlin Challenge Cup Pool, recently lost at Sale Sharks.

However, a 9-9 draw at Oyonnax back in October was a minor light for the Warriors and one they will hope to turn into a bright hope at Sixways.

"The mood is good, it's really positive," Schofield told on Wednesday.

"You can't go into your shell and you can't think negatively. We've got a long season, we've got to keep working towards a win.

"We'll stay professional, there's no one getting bitter, Dean's steering the ship pretty well in that respect. He's keeping us happy.

"[As captain] it's a responsibility, we all have a call. We get in and the boys react well around each other.

"It's just about getting motivated on the pitch, forgetting the knock-ons or errors.

"We've got to win, we know that we have got to win some games and that's it really. We're positive in the camp, we're working towards getting that win and we're focussed."

Oyonnax enter the Amlin Challenge Cup game on the back of a morale-boosting 28-24 win over Biarritz as they lifted the gloom on their mid-season slide down the Top 14 table.

But form and other issues are not a concern for former Sale Sharks and Toulon lock Schofield, who is keen to get a win on the board before they return to Aviva Premiership action.

"We just want to win we don't care where it comes from," he said.

"We're not in a great place at the moment, we keep doing what we're doing, we don't change anything and we go for Oyonnax next week.

"We've had the floods all over Worcester so we'll probably look after the pitch and stick it up our jumpers against a big set of French forwards.

"I think it [the performance against Sale] was a bit of a kick-on from London Irish we needed a bit of a reaction because we had our pants pulled down by the London Irish pack and we wanted a reaction.

"We know Sale have got a big pack and a big lineout drive we put it forward to them and they couldn't really take advantage.

"I thought we defended well and our scrum was outstanding, big credit to the front row they have been working well all week.

"I think we were just lacking a bit of cutting edge, we managed to get in the 22 three or four times but that was about it."
